Highly developed Western Malaysia is characterized by its very modern metropolis, starting with the capital Kuala Lumpur, and its heavenly beaches of fine sand. Local recipes vary according to terroir, ethnicity and region. Must-haves include local tropical fruits such as mangosteen, mango or rambutan. As for the cuisine, let yourself be tempted by delicious satay skewers, blue rice, otak-otaj (fish cakes) or even grilled ice skates.
